“Inception” is a 2010 science fiction action film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, who also produced the movie with his wife, Emma Thomas. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a professional thief specializing in extracting information by infiltrating the subconscious minds of his targets. He is offered a chance at redemption: to have his criminal history erased as payment for the risky task of implanting another person’s idea into a target’s subconscious—a process known as inception.
The film was a commercial success, grossing over $837 million worldwide and becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2010. Hailed as one of the best films of the decade, “Inception” won four Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects. It also received four additional nominations at the 83rd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Art Direction, and Best Original Score.
